Before You Sign With Any Remodeler, Read This First

How to plan a kitchen, a bath, or a full remodel without surprises — from the Palm Springs company that has completed more than 7,000 projects since 1991.

A remodel is one of the largest checks a homeowner ever writes. It is also one of the easiest purchases to get wrong — not because homeowners are careless, but because most contractors ask you to compare the wrong things: a price, a promise, and a handshake.

This page exists to change that. Read it before you sign anything — with us or with anyone. By the end, you will know the five questions that separate a professional remodel from an expensive lesson, and you will know exactly how we work if you decide we have earned your call.

A company built one project at a time

In 1991, George Gutierrez founded Gee Ar Gee Construction in Palm Springs with a simple standard: build every project the way you would build it in your own home, and stand behind it when you are done.

Thirty-three years later, that standard has a record: more than 7,000 projects completed — kitchens, baths, additions, and full-home remodels across the Coachella Valley and the Inland Empire. Companies do not reach 7,000 projects by being the cheapest. They reach it by finishing, by communicating, and by still answering the phone years after the final walkthrough.

One of George's proudest early projects says a lot about how this company thinks. Early in his career, he built a 1,500-square-foot replica of an 1890s cabin in Palm Springs — a home with the soul of another century and the bones of modern construction. It is the kind of project a contractor takes when craft matters more than convenience. That same standard runs every kitchen and bath we build today.

Proof, not promises

  • Television trusted us with a hotel. Gee Ar Gee was featured on the Travel Channel's Hotel Impossible, for work at The Curves Hotel in Palm Springs — a project where deadlines are public and mistakes are broadcast.
  • The desert's biggest stages trusted us with their build. George's team served as lead construction team for the Coachella and Stagecoach festivals — work where thousands of people walk through what you built.
  • Homeowners say it plainly. Jeff W., a remodel client, wrote: "We are very happy we selected you over the other contractors we interviewed… highly recommend… big to small."

That is the whole proof section. No stock photos, no borrowed claims — a record you can check.

The 5 questions to ask any remodeler before you sign

Take this list to every estimate appointment, including ours. An honest contractor will welcome every one of these questions. A contractor who dodges them has answered you already.

1. Can I verify your license and insurance myself — before we talk price?

A professional hands you the number and invites you to check it. Ours is printed at the bottom of this page. If a contractor gets uncomfortable when you verify, stop there.

2. Who actually does the work inside my home?

Ask who shows up each morning, who supervises them, and how much of the work is handed to people you will never meet. You deserve names, a supervisor, and one person who answers for the whole job.

3. Is the scope written down — and how do change orders work?

Everything that will be done should be written before work begins: materials, finishes, what is included and what is not. And when you change your mind mid-project — most people do — the change should be priced and signed before the work is done, never added as a surprise at the end.

4. Is the payment schedule tied to milestones?

Healthy remodels are paid in stages, as work is completed and inspected — never far ahead of the work itself. If the schedule asks you to pay for progress that has not happened yet, the risk has quietly moved from the contractor to you.

5. What is the warranty — and who do I call if something goes wrong?

Get the warranty in writing, and ask the harder question: if something fails in two years, who picks up the phone? A company that has been in the same valley for 33 years has a reputation it cannot run from. That is worth more than any line in a contract.

Ask us these five questions first. We would rather earn your project against a tough checklist than win it with a low number and a vague promise.

How working with us goes

Step 1 — Free estimate & design consultation. We talk through your project, your priorities, and your budget range, and we tell you honestly what is possible. No cost, no obligation.

Step 2 — A written plan. You receive the scope, the selections, and the schedule in writing — the same document we will build from. What you sign is what we build.

Step 3 — The build. One team, one supervisor, steady communication from demolition to final walkthrough — and a company that is still here when you call us for the next room.
